Primers Rocks!

The DC (Discovery Camp) was indeed an enjoyable experience for all the participants including the seniors. We learnt to overcome our fears of heights and went through those obstacles that were placed in front of us like the Omega descend and abseiling. Some of us managed to face our fear for waters too and went out to sea for the kayaking and rafting experience. Also, there was a short session on the first night teaching us about teamwork. It was a session conducted by Evelyn (captain's wife for those who do not know) whom is a primary school teacher. She had to rush down from school just to give us that valuable lesson which was well appreciated by all of us. During this interaction time, we played some interesting games that involved great teamwork and it was a unique game as most of us had not played it before. Thus, we had a good time enjoying this time, as well as bonding with each other.

Through out this whole camp, we learnt to have faith in ourselves, be brave enough to take the first step. We also need to learn to work as a team in order to complete all our task assigned to us. Together as a team, we endured all hardships together and overcome the obstacles together. Team work is very important and we should not belittle this 8-letter word that gave many our motivation to carry on. One team is just as strong as the weakest member, thus we need to help each other out as we all have different areas of strength.

To end off our day of adventure, we were given a nice meal. This was a special meal as it was not the usual packed food that we usually received during camps. This meal required us to start the fire and cook the food ourselves. Yes, u guess it right, we are having BBQ for dinner. We all had fun starting the fire, cooking those chicken wings and standing together as a group around the barbeque pit melting marshmallows. It was indeed a nice time to bond together again and chat around happily. Campfire was the other highlight for the night as we all gathered in a circle around the fire. We sang some songs that were taught to us by seniors. Some of them were easy to learn while the others were a little more complicated as they included actions too. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves. We learnt a 'friendship dance' to mark the end of the campfire night and as we danced in a circle literally around the fire. This really marks the bonding of the whole camp as we make new friends.

In conclusion, this camp was indeed successful in making us learn about so many things in a fun and interesting way. It also succeeded in making our bonds closer as a family. May the next camp event arrive soon and more people get to join and experience the joy that we all had for the 3D/2N Adventure Camp.

Ps: We would like to thank all the officials and seniors for taking their time to come down and to plan this event and made it so successful for all of us. Many came down even though they are busy with school/work and all of us appreciated that. Thank you for the log and admin team that spent many nights preparing the required items which is not a simple task when we had events like campfire and BBQ. Thank you for the publicity department in notifying everyone about the camp and thank the campfire-programmers for planning such an interesting closing night for us. And last of all, our medic who was very concerned about our health/safety at all times.

A Memorable Day..

The dedication service was basically great. It was indeed a very meaningful and memorable experience. It was my first time seeing so many companies like the girls and boys brigade coming together to have a parade. It was indeed my honour to witness such an event.

One of the games we played was the treasure hunt. It was a pretty interesting game for the group members as we have to find certain items with the help of a senior. It was not a very easy task to find those items, but through teamwork and good cooperation, we managed to complete most of the task. I could also find the bonding among the group members in the team and this helps us to understand one and another well.

Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable experience.
