The SP Primers had their yearly overnight cycling on Wed 21 June. It was with much excitement that we look forward to it because the Lord has blessed us with more than double the number of signups as compared to last year! A total of 105 people took part in this event. All the officers plus the primers were looking forward to a time of connecting with the year 1s.
There were 8 groups averaging 12 people each.
Pastor Roland flagged them off and they set off at 15mins intervals from ECP. The route would take them along ECP all the way to the SAFRA resort before they take the long long road right next to the airport runway. It would be followed by a visit through Changi Village and a short visit to the Old Changi Hospital. Supper point was at Changi Beach before they head back. The 1st part of the journey had 2 rest-cum-games point. It was designed like that to make it less monotoneous. The way back on the other hand would not have any rest stops. It was so that they would learn how to encourage each other along the way and to foster a sense of esprite de corp. We also played an interesting game on the way back which involves teamwork. As the group cycled in a line, the last rider will overtake to the front and this keeps going on. It was to push each other to the limit and at the same time teach them teamwork by encouraging each other on.
It was also an event of faith. When we were just starting the cycling, it started to drizzle. Kenny and I (not synchronised and only found out later) prayed for God to hold back the rain till we finished. And God really answered! It stopped! The amazing thing was that at the end of the cycling when we were all back at the tentage, we ended the whole event saying the BB Vesper. And right at the end of it, which ends with ‘Amen”. it started to rain! Wow! God was really holding back the rain for us! “if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” It was really demonstarted by this. It was a fun filled event where we really connected with the year 1s… some even came for the Miracle Service! So let’s pray that the Lord will continue to draw them close!
The Primers family will become bigger.

Dedication Service
I remembered the prayer i made the moment i stepped out of the plane, which was: “Lord, we have done our part and now its up to you.” This was a significant day becos it was the day of BB/GB dedication service. Meaning the primers will come down to the Max Pavilion for our youth service. Well the working part of me started questioning the numbers of Primers coming of which how many from the NDP work and how many from the rest of the Primers or thru the dedicated calling structure that we have done up. Yet deep in my heart was the kind of peace that you know comes from God.
So I asked Him,” Lord are you pleased?”
“Yes” was His reply.
Ok lah, now i am very relaxed for the whole event. But i must pity my young primers, i have a feeling they were somewhat avoiding me becos they were all afraid of telling me the attendance. In total we had 78 students that came, praise the Lord! Though it was not as high as i hoped (100 was my personal target) but these are 78 lives that had a chance to sit in and listen to the word of God preached to them.
Well after service, we had a post program that included a tribe time, Dan&Eve tribe with SP.Primers and Daniel&Pauline tribe with NP Primers. Afterwhich we all gathered as a big Primers family to have more fun and games and even had MacDonalds!
I give thanks to God for the 78 that came, not just for the numbers, but it is a testimony to God’s grace at SP for the past year. We started out with a handful of year 2s, most of whom have other companies that they are serving in, i even have one OC in my company(which is one of the key appointment holders in a BB company) We knew that we had to start somewhere and this bunch of guys stood with us for one full year.
So from almost zero person that we started off with, until the present average attendance (100 odd) for major events (78 for the enrolment service makes up more than 10% attendance of the BB/GB family in FCBC), it has been a journey full of grace for us all.
Thank God for sustaining this work and transforming this land that was once a hard ground for BB to flourish into a major CCA in SP. More will come from this land right? hahaha
Amen!
