MEMBERSHIP


1. How do I join the club?

You can (1) drop us an email at spprimers@gmail.com, (2) call Paul (EXCO Admin) at 81806182, (3) find us in our club room, (4) ask your Primers friends to bring you along for our events or (5) simply drop a tag on our web tagboard displaying your interest. No membership form is needed.

2. I am not a year 1 student, can I still join?

Yes definitely. Our club practices open membership all year round, meaning to say you can join us at anytime of the year irregardless of the year you are studying.

3. Do I need to pay any membership fees in order to join?

Nope you need not, we are a non-profit organization. Collection of funds are only for a few major events like camps, chalets etc (we'll state when you need to pay). The amount is also kept low as we believe money shouldn't an issue to gain the necessary fun and experience.

4. I heard that Primers is part of the Boys' Brigade. Can girls join?

Yes indeed we are part of the BB. However, the Primers programme is a special one catered for both young men and young ladies.

5. I am not a Singapore Polytechnic student, can I join?

It is a little tough as most of the subsidy are meant for SP students and it is difficult to track the admin aspect of the programs. However if you are from either NP or NYP, you can consider joining in your own school.

CCA POINTS


6. Do I get CCA points for all the events I join?

Most formal events e.g. Beach Day, Amazing Race have CCA points tagged along with them while informal events e.g. steamboat sessions, movie outings does not have any.

7. I was told that I can get points for attending this particular event but I've yet to receive any after a few days. How and who do I verify this with?

Points normally take a month to be reflected in the SAS. However if this issue is really bothering you, do talk to our EXCO Admin or the President's Office.

Spring is something that people look forward to. With this stayover, the family hopes that our upcoming events for the new year can also be something people look forward to. So join us, as we give you an update on the exciting things that is happening in the new year!

Change in Web Layout

Hey guys! I believe it has been a fruitful and wonderful year for all of us indeed. Even as we are looking forward to an even more exciting year, I'm proud to announce that there will be some changes to the current website to give it a even more dynamic look!

Due to heavy maintenance needed, the executive committee has decided to use this blog as a substitute till the new website is up. So while waiting, do give us your feedback and have a blessed new year!

SGB@SP - Christmas Bash

On the night of 22nd December, we were all treated to a Christmas party at Vanda Room. Many people seem to have trouble finding the place as people were searching everywhere for just one room while I was watching from inside. However I was lost initially as well, since I came in from the gate near the Graduates Guild.

There was a warm reception and a Christmas-friendly environment when we were finally at the entrance of the room. We were given a popper and a tattoo to allocate us into the different groups later on during the games.

As I was turning away from the reception desk, I saw some people by a pail of water trying to wet the tattoo so that it could stick onto our skin. The program started off late and some people were busy taking photos, some having meetings, some setting things up, some chatting away and fews were staring into space.

Finally the program started with two emcees to come up and gave an overview of the program before passing the microphone to the chairperson of SP Primers. The emcees did a really great job at giving us an overview and seems like there is going to be a lot of fun-filled activities lined-up for everyone.

The microphone was then giving to the chairperson of SP Primers who shared with us the story of a canned food to highlight the progress of SGB and the statistics as well as the achievements we had doing this remarkable event. Although the story was a bit way too long but nobody was bored and some even laughed and cheer while he was telling the story. That shows the support that we have for one another in this CCA, as a family.

Then we all had to be put into groups to play certain games and there was even Santa Claus who ripped the star off the Christmas tree together with our officer Mr. Kenny.

There was also a Christmas tree decoration contest but we are not dolling up the trees but the youngest member of our group and Xiuli won the contest being a ballerina Christmas tree.














Finally the program ended with a marshmallow stuffing contest to see who can stuff the most marshmallow into their mouth and say a Christmas phrase for the audience to guess. Paul is the winner with a record-setting 9 marshmallow in his mouth!!!!

We also have other participators with their might to get as many marshmallow into their mouth.




Then we come to the end of the program and the most anticipated part of the event. THE BUFFET!!!! Well there was just too many people and too little food to go around, which give no doubt why many people were whining and some didn’t even get to sink their teeth into the food.



Honestly, the audience played a huge part to make the program a success, although the original program was greatly cut short but it was the audience that made it a success.

SGB@SP - Distribution

After all the sorting out of the items we collected during SGB Collection from all the neighbourhood area, we finally reach the day of SGB Distribution.
How time past, as all the hard work for the past month will finally be materialized on this day, the day of Distribution. With everyone arriving with a heart of anticipation, the atmosphere around the convention centre was set to be buzzing. To cut thing short, after all the administration and briefing was done, all of us were ready to travel out of SP and spread the joy of giving!


The manpower was divided into three areas, namely Clementi, Indus road and Bedok. From the aura emitted out of everyone around me, I could sense a level of commitment they put into their job as they embark on this journey. Surely there were trouble here and there, as the recipient might not be at home or the gift pack was deliver late due to some delay at HQ. However all these do not matter once we saw the smile on their faces as it melt away all the frustration of waiting.
Valuable lesson and insight had been passed to us through this experience. A new sense of self awareness of one surrounding and society had been created. This will surely be a lifelong moment to treasure for those few enduring memories so close to our heart.
